Deployments

Our longer deployments take place throughout the Easter and Summer holidays, and are one of the most anticipated events in the URNU calendar.

Each phase (lasting between 1-2 weeks), provides our members with the chance to really sharpen up their sea-faring skills, visit many exciting locations throughout the UK and Europe and, as usual, get paid for it all!
Throughout the deployments, we are also usually accompanied by a ship from another URNU, providing the perfect chance to make some new friends!

As well as life on ship, each destination will include many “runs ashore”, which is free time for our students to disembark and explore the local scenery, tourist attractions and, of course, pubs!

Summer and Easter Deployments are one of the most rewarding experiences on offer in the unit, and those who chose to participate, come away with some truly lasting memories, as well as strengthened skills in leadership and teamwork.
