THE APPLICATION PROCESS

So you think life in the URNU sounds like something you want to be a part of and you're ready to join? Brilliant!
Here’s how:

STEP 1: FRESHER’S FAIR/ INFORMATION DAYS

Picture
If you attend a local university, such as University of Glasgow, University of Strathclyde or Glasgow Caledonian University, come and find us at the Fresher’s Fair in September! Our friendly current members will be ready to tell you all about the exciting opportunities we offer, as well as answering any questions you may have!

Freshers' Fair dates for 2016:
University of Glasgow - 13th and 14th of September
Strathclyde University - 14th September
Glasgow Caledonian University - 12th and 13th September

Don’t worry if you can’t attend these however, as anyone interested need only come along to one of our Information Days. These are a chance for you to come along to our Unit for a short presentation showing you what we’re all about, ask any more questions you may have, and meet some of our current members (you’ll even get a free drink!). If you decide the URNU sounds right for you, then this is when you fill out an application form, telling us about what you study, your interests, and why you want to join…

Meet and Greet date for 2016:
22nd September at 1900 hrs
95 University Place, G12 8SU
0141 337 1666

STEP 2: INTERVIEW

After we have read your application form, you will be called to arrange an interview at the Unit. This will be a chance for us to have a proper chat with you, find out about what you know (if anything!) about the Navy, what you think makes you are right for the URNU, and what you hope to get out of your time with us! We also want to hear about what you hope to bring to the Unit if you are chosen, whether they be any special skills, a passion for sports, or even just a sense of adventure! Once again, you will be able to ask us any questions or queries you may have!

STEP 3: WELCOME TO G&S URNU!

If, after reading your application form and chatting to you in your interview, we feel you are right for the Unit, then we will call you and let you know you have been successful!

After this, you will be issued with a uniform, will receive the rank of Officer Cadet (O/Cdt), and your time in the Glasgow and Strathclyde University Royal Naval Unit will begin…
