Adventurous training is one of the things that makes a student’s time in the URNU truly unique, and provides experiences unlike those offered by any other university club or society.
Past destinations have included:
- The ever-popular Inter-URNU ski trip to France, which is not only great fun, but a chance to network and make friends with students from one of the other 13 URNUs throughout the UK.
- A trip to the Naval Outdoor Centre in Germany (NOCG) which saw students take part in a range of adventurous outdoor sports such as kayaking, open boat canoeing, mountain survival training and Klettersteiging (German for ‘climbing path’, which saw our brave crew using ropes to move along rock faces and crags, at a great height)
- A two week Flying Camp, which sees recruits from URNUs throughout the country learn essential piloting skills and get a taster of life in the Fleet Air Arm (FAA)
- Most of our adventurous training takes place in the Scottish wilderness. This is where we are able to practice our leadership qualities, our problem solving and our teamwork as we are faced with tasks and challenges.
